Wedding FAQs

  1. How far in advance should we book Tulips & Maple?
  2. We advise at least 6-12 months in advance. Once your date and location have been confirmed, contact us to check the availability of the date. Certain dates are more popular than others — so book earlier for holidays, weekends and the months of May, June and August through December.

  3. Which is more suitable — a buffet or plated dinner?
  4. A buffet offers your guests more variety in menu, accommodates a diverse range of tastes and offers an informal ambiance. An eye-catching buffet or food station is a welcome attraction for your guests. Add a chef at a BBQ and you have added entertainment value too! Buffet dinners are generally less expensive than a plated meal once the additional costs of staff and rentals are considered. Buffet service may be more leisurely as guests mingle at the food tables.

A plated meal offers an elegant and formal ambiance and is more efficient in terms of service and logistics. There is typically one set menu for plated functions where each course offers eye-catching plate presentations not too mention fantastic taste. Plated meal service tends to be more expensive given the additional staff and rentals required.

Recently our bride and grooms have enjoyed the interactive aspect of our chef action food stations for their wedding dinners. Delicious culinary creations are prepared right in front of your guests with enticing aromas and attractive displays. Add a little ‘catertaining’ to your special day and ask us about our exquisite action stations.

  5. How much do your weddings cost?
  6. Ah — the big question. Every wedding is a little different and numerous variables affect your total price. Generally, the cost for food, staff, rentals, taxes and event coordination for wedding dinners range between $80-$120 per person. Evening hors d’oeuvre receptions range between $35-$60 per person. Remember these are only ballpark figures meant to help you in your budgeting efforts and NOT quotes! To determine an accurate estimate of our services contact us to arrange an appointment with one our catering consultants.

  7. What does the event coordination fee cover?
  8. This covers all the extras that we do for you to ensure your event is a success. Excellence in catering is more than just great cooking. Expert logistical planning and execution is imperative. We plan staff, production and delivery schedules in advance, perform site visits, coordinate set-up logistics with you and other suppliers, determine and arrange in detail your rental needs, design your food tables, table layouts and plate presentations, brief kitchen and wait staff, consult on bar requirements and advise you on menu and agenda options. Your event coordination covers the “behind the scenes” duties critical to providing flawless catering.

Next Steps

When we receive your initial inquiry, one of our catering consultants will guide you through the conversation and ask specific questions about your wedding. This is to help us understand what is important to you and also to determine how we can serve you best.

The next step is to meet with us in our office where you can share your vision of your special day along with your food preferences. Together we will develop a catering plan for your celebration that addresses your needs and the logistics of your wedding. We will share our expertise of what creates a seamless catered wedding and guide you on menu ideas.

After the meeting, our consultant will use the information gathered in your meeting to determine necessary logistics and service & rental needs. The Chef will design your menu and determine the menu cost. Your consultant will prepare a detailed proposal that includes your menu description, staff, rental and other needs and costs breakdowns. The proposal is just that — a proposed menu and wedding plan. We work in partnership with you to revise the plan to make it a perfect reflection of your vision.

You can reserve your date by completing our agreement form and delivering a deposit. A payment schedule from the time of signing to the date of your wedding will also be provided. We usually meet with you at least one more time before the wedding to review and update all the important details of your wedding day.
